Five students from Sewanee: the University of the South, are walking from Sewanee, TN to Washington D.C. this summer to raise money and awareness for Invisible Children, a non-profit organization "working to transform apathy into activism."
WalkWithUganda is hoping to support Invisible Children, Inc. in the work they are doing in Uganda and the US by walking across the Eastern United States from "our home" in Sewanee to the place of power, Washington, D.C. in order to promote awareness and lobby those in power for the sake of the oppressed and marginalized children in Uganda.
We want the walk to symbolize the daily walk the children made in order to sleep without fear of abduction and abuse. We hope the walk will also symbolize the walk the child soldiers will make as they try to return home as the war ends. We walk with them, so that they may no longer be invisible.
